9800 Wilshire is a 3-story, 40,000 SF, existing office building renovation. The existing structure has a metal deck with concrete fill, metal joists supported by a steel girder, and steel columns. The lateral system is a combination of steel frames and reinforced brick walls. This project features a complex new façade design, extensive interior remodeling, a seismic upgrade, and a new roof with a curved steel canopy. The structural design required a preliminary deep analysis of the as-built condition to ensure feasibility and sustainability of the architectural intent.
